Mayor
David Miller and Toronto City Council are looking for
qualified people to serve on the Board of Directors of
Waterfront Toronto. As one of four citizen members Toronto
appoints to the thirteen-member Board, you will apply
your knowledge, skills and experience to draw private-sector
investment and achieve significant environmental improvements,
social and public realm benefits and economic activity
through revitalization of the Toronto waterfront.

Waterfront
Toronto is an independent corporation comprised
of the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario
and the City of Toronto as partners. Each partner
has committed $500 million to the initiative. Waterfront
Toronto’s mandate is to lead and oversee Toronto
waterfront revitalization activities in a designated
area from Coxwell Avenue to Dowling Avenue.
Citizens
appointed to the Waterfront Toronto Board will live
in Toronto, understand public process and have leadership
experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Urban
planning and development
- Brownfield
remediation
- Economic
development
- Development
financing
- Human
resources
- Implementation
of complex business strategies and/or comprehensive
city building initiatives
- Current
or previous experience as a director in the public
or private sectors

Board
members are expected to attend approximately 8-10 meetings
of the Board and its committees each year. Time will also
be required for agenda review, meeting preparation and
special events. The term of the appointment is three years
from the date of appointment by CIty Council. Members
are eligible for reappointment. Board members must demonstrate
business acumen, independence of judgment and personal
integrity.
Toronto residents, who are at least 18 years old and are
not employees of the City or its Agencies, nor the spouse,
child or parent of a City Councilor,
can apply. Candidates must demonstrate the expertise,
experience and ethical integrity appropriate for a role
directing the business affairs of this major corporation.
The City encourages applications from candidates reflecting
Toronto’s diverse population.
