Job Descrpiption
This is the type of company where you will gain more hands on experience in one year than five years at an agency. Your design of presentation and marketing collateral will compliment your product design skills. This is an amazing opportunity for you to apply your design savvy in a company that sells millions of potted plant containers to North Americas largest retailers each year. Ultimately, we need you to come up with new designs, colours, textures, sizes and shapes for flower and plant containers and design the marketing and collateral material that compliments the sales function (website, catalogue, brochures, social media etc.). You will have a lot of creative autonomy with this dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial company. There is potential for your designs to end up on store shelves and in homes. The office is fun and the atmosphere is friendly. The office is also newly renovated and lovely to work in.
SALARY RANGE: $38,000 - $40,000

WHAT YOU WOULD DO:
- Bring ideas to life
- Create presentations
- Create catalogues/brochures with InDesign
- Conduct research on new designs and trends
- Work closely with the sales team and clients to understand their marketing and design requirements
- Provide high quality designs, images, presentations, catalogues, and advertisements
- Follow and help improve the company’s product design and project processes
- Design planters, decorative plastic pots, indoor decorative cover pots, enviropots and nursery containers using a wide variety of colours, textures, patterns and sizes
- Manage client expectations, including the balance between design, cost, and quality
- Present innovative solutions to the in-house sales team
- Learn how to build virtual and real prototypes using Photoshop, Illustrator, SolidWorks, clay and other materials
- Paint, decorate and modify physical prototypes as required
SOME REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in creating and delivering professional presentations
- Experience designing/creating new finishes, colors, textures, and patterns in actual samples
- A strong sample portfolio
- Experience in creating 2D images in Photoshop
- Advanced skill in Microsoft PowerPoint, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with clients and identifying their needs
- Demonstrated understanding of current industry trends
- Creative, innovative, and able to suggest new designs, finishes, and colors
- Able to think beyond aesthetics and form
- Able to articulate and justify design decisions to others in professional manner
- Able to advocate for design research with a solid understanding of multiple methodologies and when to apply the right one
- Able to use design as a tool to uncover what questions to ask, what solutions to explore, and how to define and measure success
- Able to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Able to travel several times a year within North America and overseas
- For the most part this is a Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm role however, flexible hours are sometimes necessary. Occasionally, tight deadlines may require late hours.
