HEALTH AND SAFETY PARTNER (HSP) - LONDON
JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibility of this role is to be proactive in the prevention and claims management in Branch Operations which includes mitigation of costs by managing the return to work program, completing and submitting required documentation within timeframes and supporting compliance with all OH&S safety training and prevention requirements. Act in accordance with the ParaMed mission, vision and values, established policies and procedures, relevant legislation, government and funder guidelines, the Collective Agreements where applicable and local contract requirements.

SALARY - $55,000 to $65,000 plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prevention Activities
- Implement the company Health and Safety program which includes setting standards, communication, training, evaluation and continuous improvement, as directed by Corporate
- Coordinate completion of Monthly H&S Implementation packages
- Provides support to all levels of management and supervision with regards to the implementation of H&S policies and procedures
- Conduct/coordinate safety training (online, orientation, traditional, etc.) for new hires, temporary staff, current staff, as required.
- Facilitate the management of OH&S Training requirements for their responsibility area.
- Identify and assess potential hazards, providing recommendations to their local leadership team with consultation of corporate OH&S to correct the hazard(s), and follow up on implemented recommendations
- Maintain monthly and annual inspection reports, training records and refresh dates
- Lead the activities and responsibilities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, working closely with committee representatives and management
- Prepare monthly safety reports
- Ensure maintenance of standard OHS regulations (First Aiders and Kits, MSDS/SDS, etc.)
- Joint Health and Safety Committee facilitation, participation and maintenance
- Participate and Facilitate workplace incident investigations by ensuring that all requirements are followed.
- WSIB/WCB: Manage worker compensation claims
- Facilitate Workers return to work and modified work programs
- Escalate complex issues to Corporate OH&S and Operations Leadership
- Ensure claim file processes are followed for data retention and protection
- Provide Regular information and reports on workplace injury claims to stakeholders as required
- Coordinate and implement accommodation requirements as advised by Labour Relations/People and
- Culture and the Branch Client Services Manager or District Director to meet requirements for nonoccupational accommodation.
- Other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Effort (Mental & Physical):
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment
- Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer, peripherals, and mobile devices
- Interacts with internal and external stake holders such as frontline staff, healthcare workers, local management, WSIB case managers, Corporate H&S, etc.
- Communicating using multiple electronic devices (i.e. phone, email, fax, computer and internal database)
- Will be expected to work in a team and individual setting
- Must have the ability to travel within the region for meetings and Return to Work Conferences as required
- College diploma in a related field i.e. Occupational Health and Safety, People and Culture entry level,
- Labour Relations, Business Administration.
- 1- 3 years of experience in Health and Safety Management Systems Facilitation
- 1- 3 years of experience in WSIB/WCB Claims Management
- Prior JOHSC Member Experience is required- will provide course to obtain.
